yester year shop
It seemed more like a shop you find in a museum that a proper shop. There was a sign on the window which said -
"If you require into the shop please ring the doorbell at house no 29 sorry for any inconvenience"
The shop is located down by the harbour in Wick in the area called Pulteney.
This really feels like a ghost town. I didn't have time to go into the museum but there were good pictures of how this area was in the 19th Century. The area was built by Sir William Pulteney for people evicted from their land i.e Highland Clearances. They were then employed during a herring boom. It would be interesting to find out if Sir William Pulteney was torching his tenants houses.
The streets are real empty and sleepy.
