My Corner of the World. Literally.
In computer magazines they often have a section where readers send in a photo of their wee corner and list all the kit they have. I like this idea (I may be a bit odd). But today, as it's tipping it down outside again, too much even to venture out for a scone blip, I thought I'd share my wee corner with you. I know - it is a bit desperate...
My Corner of the World is only about a square metre, but I manage to spend many happy hours in here. Mind you, since the advent of iPads, I can a lot of my techie stuff from the sofa now! It's in what is called the 'box room' in Edinburgh tenements. This is an interior room with no windows, often used as another bedroom in student flats. I did a six photo stitch up, it being such a wee space. But it didn't work too well in places. Maybe I DO need that wide angle lens...
My computer is my pride and joy. It's great to have a big screen, for school work (now no more) and for Photoshop. I've just been checking out blipfoto (oh look! I have a new comment!) and what afternoon movies are on at the Filmhouse. The little pink box under the computer was Pink Champagne Truffles, left by a couple of London house swappers, but is now handy for odds and ends.
You can see my other pride and joy, my iPad, along with my Canon Powershot. I do occasionally print out photos too. A few are on the walls. The one with the blue balloon at the top is there because it took me hours and hours and hours learning about layers and masks on Photoshop. The wee chap peeking out of a rug is one of my favourite photos, taken about 30 years ago in NZ. He's my nephew, but very tragically died in a surfing accident in Bali more than a year ago.
You can't see on the calendar, because I haven't put it in yet, but we're due to go up to the West Coast, Dornie, at the weekend. I have checked the weather, and as much as is possible, given they get it wrong a lot of the time, I am led to think that there might be some sunny spells in between showers.
The rope hanging down is the pulley - another of the essentials that make life easier. Especially in this weather. We have another one in the kitchen.
Nothing else for it - I'm not going to bother going out. I'm off to catch up on the Good Wife and generally laze and graze. Or more probably, spend the day in this corner, oblivious to the weather!
