Christmas is over

Yesterday was 3 kings day and suddenly the nature strips are full of discarded Christmas trees - funny how people still follow this tradition but are so ready to put the tree up early.
We haven't had a really tree for ages - when I was little we had pine trees on our property and just used to cut a branch off . When we moved we bought them from the local greengrocer and dad used to prepare them by soaking them in the dam for a while - lovely mixed smell of pine and dam water.
Years later when I was working I bought a pine cutting and we had an alive tree - sadly my parents left behind when they moved . Now we just don't have a treat all
