The fungi trail

Rich bought me an assortment of ID guides for Christmas - one was a fungi trail.  So, I’m trying to ID this one and wondering if it’s root rot.

“Is it a red brown ‘shelf’ with a white edge and strong smell?”

Well, it is a red brown ‘shelf’ but it doesn’t have a white edge and I didn’t know I was supposed to smell them!
