Stepping back in time....

...to Christmas!!

Having spent the whole of yesterday taking down the Christmas decorations, it was a surprise this morning to discover that The Corridor in Bath was still festooned with its festive frills!

The Corridor opened in 1825 and was designed by Henry Edmund Goodridge, and is one of the earliest surviving examples of a Georgian retail arcade outside London.

"On its completion in 1825, the residents of Bath could see how The Corridor showcased Goodridge’s neo-classical influences. The Grade II listed arcade featured at the High Street end, a Doric colonnade and arch with marble columns. A musician’s gallery with a wrought iron balustrade and gilt lions’ heads and garlands is in the centre of the arcade making it one of the most attractive of its kind in the world." www.visitbath.co.uk

I was in Bath to see 'The Theory of Everything', a film looking at the relationship between the famous physicist Stephen Hawking (brilliantly played by Eddie Redmayne) and his wife. An interesting story, filmed in the beautiful location of Cambridge (somewhere I've yet to discover!) but overall I think I preferred Paddington! What a philistine!!
