Coot Club

I called in at RSPB Rye Meads this afternoon on the way back from picking up the van. The light was poor and there wasn't much to see. I had a nice brisk walk though as I was being chivvied.

As soon as I saw these coots congregated on a raft I thought Coot Club. Our favourite Arthur Ransome book is We Didn't Mean To Go To Sea. We used to love sailing to and staying at Pin Mill, which is featured. Coot Club is set in the Norfolk Broads, our deep keel boat couldn't navigate those shallow waters. Falcon, the first boat MrQ had when he was thirteen, was from The Broads, it had a lifting keel.
