Dining in the Deep Freeze

This fine little Downy Woodpecker will have to be my blip for today.  It is quite frigid outside and the wind chill is in single digits (Fahrenheit!). I know the folks in the upper Midwest won’t be impressed by those numbers, but for us, it is quite a shock to the system, (and the heating bill!)  

There has been a flurry of activity at the bird feeders since the snow fell yesterday.  Usually, when I go out the back door, the birds scatter, but this fellow didn’t budge and allowed me to sneak a little closer than usual. 

I do hope they get the thumbnail adjustment resolved in the very near future.  Has anyone heard when that improvement might be coming?
