Time Travellers

One of our family gave me a voucher for a "3 tier" afternoon tea for my birthday back in November. With all the Christmas events and preparations, I put it aside until last week when I actually phoned the restaurant and made the booking!
We arrived at Mother's Little Vintage Tea Room in Castle Cary early this afternoon, having skipped lunch altogether! It was like stepping onto a film set! The tablecloths were embroidered linen, the teacups, teapots, sugar bowl all very vintage, and the waitresses in caps and aprons. Our tea was served on a three tier cake stand. We had delicious little sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and plum jam, and little cakes!
Tiny eclairs, coloured macaroons, and fruit tarts beautifully served.
The weather outside was wet and grey, but what better afternoon to enjoy such a treat!
