Calm before the storm

A day of sunshine and heavy showers. Busy day with the feeding putting out new bales and mucking out sheds. Took this on the long dog walk this morning. Forcast is for gales tonight so my friend who lives in a caravan is coming down to stay.

I just got in from feeding and was bringing a cup of tea to Mr shepherdess and commenting on missing the very heavy hail shower that was happening when there was an almighty pop and flash from the tv area and a very loud clap of thunder. The dogs and I jumped a mile! Modem got fryed along with the ps4. There was actual smoke coming out the modem. Expensive morning! Managed to borrow an old modem from a neighbour until the new one arrives which is very handy! The main phones still worked was worried it had also fried the suresignal that uses the internet to provide mobile signal but it hadn't. We are remote enough that not having internet etc can be quite a problem. Especially when trying to run businesses! Managed to fry the self catering cottage modem too. Just one of those thing I suppose. Going to buy a surge protector now. We have a power surge protector but not a phone line one. I guess you live and learn! I did look out the window at the horses as all this was going on and they were just busy grazing away, clearly not bothered by thunder and lightening! My husband's knee is a wee bit less painful today so hoping the rest is working!
