Gresford Mining Disaster Memorial

I live a couple of miles from Gresford, the site of one of Britain's worst mining disasters. In 1934, 266 men and boys dies when an explosion rocked the mine from deep within. Only 11 bodies were ever recovered, the rest are still down there.

The mine's winding gear has been used to create a memorial which I've driven past hundreds of times and stopped to look at for the first time today. That's one of the reasons i like Blipping.
