The 1514 Memorial
Locally known as The Horse. The equestrian memorial stands at the end of Hawick High Street, and commemorates the victory of local youths or 'Callents' from the town over a party of English raiders at Hornsloe just outside Hawick in 1514. Most of the men from the town had been killed at Flodden Field the previous year. The English flag was captured and carried back to Hawick, the capture which is commemorated in this proud statue.
It has been a cold, wet and windy day with another storm hitting tonight meant to be worse than last nights. However I was very brave and went out in the elements to capture todays blip. I deserve a brave sticker :)
