Arizona Farm
I have always been drawn to farming.
There is just a simple honesty that I relate to small farms.
When I was very young, my Dad and I often planned to buy a farm if we won the lottery. :)
I love farmer's markets too- knowing that the produce was picked in the last 24 hours just seems better.
Not many people relate farming with Arizona but we have many, even around Phoenix. I took this photo about 10 miles (16 km) from my home.
Some fun trivia:
"Beef is Arizona's leading agricultural product.
Arizona grows enough cotton each year to make more than one pair of jeans for every man, woman and child in the U.S.
Yuma, Arizona is the winter lettuce capitol of the world.
Nationally, Arizona ranks second in the production of lemons, third in tangerine production, and 4th in the production of oranges and grapefruit.
Nationwide in the USA, the number of farmers was declined over the past 5 years while in Arizona the number grew by 28% in the same time frame. This result is most likely driven by rising number of smaller farms. Nearly 40% of farms in Arizona have a principal operator who was female compared to 14% nationally."
I would still love to have some chickens and a real garden. Someday...
