British Blippers of a certain vintage will remember (fondly?) the Public Information Film.

Children were routinely warned of the dangers lurking on railway lines, building sites, beaches and roads. Avoiding frozen ponds, discarded fridges and dodgy men with puppies in cars was drummed into us.

We were introduced to Dave (swims like a fish) Petunia (waves at drowning sailors) Tufty (road safety squirrel) and Charlie the talking/growling cat. Rolf Harris advised us to learn to swim and the Green X code man taught us to stop, look and listen at the kerb.

Legends all - I remember them fondly. Except for the hooded figure with no face beside the frozen ponds....
