Unexpected blooms.

A brighter but colder day but still with those strong winds.

I looked out into the garden to see if there had been any damage in the aftermath of last night's gales. What leapt out at me were several patches of almost luminous purple.

Several clumps around the one crocus that was blooming over Christmas ( pictured on my New Year's Day blip) and this clump in the bed beyond.

I know these are early flowering but I'm pretty sure I have photographed them in the snow in early March in previous years.

A nice surprise for early January.
