Swinton Park
We arrived at Swinton Park quite early as we wanted to walk around the surrounding area before our 7 course evening meal - wanted to feel like we deserved it!
Our room was already ready before midday and 2 concierges took our limited luggage upstairs to our gorgeous room. So many little touches like complimentary gin and tonic, whisky. The estate has such character and history, every one of the countless paintings and photographs played a part in building up the history of the estate.
We walked 6 miles surrounding the estate, there were so many walks so we just picked one. The weather threatened but we escaped unscathed.
Back to Swinton for 4pm afternoon cream tea, a quick nap in the room before down to the restaurant for the 7 course tasting menu.
I couldn't tell you what we had, it seemed like many more than 7 courses - it was all delicious, some amazing and unusual food, or usual cooked differently and extremely well. I'm going to email them to ask for a list!
Finished off with good whisky before turning in. When we got back to our room we found they had turned down our bed and left a card to indicate not only if you wanted them to bring the car to the door the next morning, but would we like it de-icing!
More from the day here including the amazing view from the room where the deer came to graze just before sundown.
