Illuminate 2015

A surprise invite and a spur of the moment decision took me into Bath this evening to view the Illuminate 2015 festival, bringing together international and local artists with Bath Spa University students to create beautiful and engaging projections and installations in Bath city centre.

"Many of the artworks are interactive, fun and playful, transforming historic buildings and spaces into contemporary works of art to inspire you." http://illuminate2015.org/

This particular illumination was projected onto the front entrance to the Roman Baths: "Canadian video artist Leila Sujir will be projecting in stereographic 3D onto the entrance wall of the Roman Baths where visitors will be given 3D glasses to view her ethereal artwork Elastic City Spacey. Images of Roman coins, from the Beau Street Hoard, interact with video footage of Corsham Court’s famous peacocks, to connect the Roman and Georgian history of Bath within this architectural space."

The Roman Baths themselves were host to further illuminations, and, lit only by the flame of torches, with steam rising from the hot spring water into the cold night air,  a truly magical atmosphere was created...

Add to that a drink at the Apres Ski Bar, and you have the ingredients for a wonderful evening!

(Looks much better when viewed 'large'! Which isn't really large!!)
