Windy
Another half dozen trees upturned overnight, luckily again those furthest from the house. The closest fallen tree got within 5m of the garden entrance.
Difficult to get a shot that shows how close the standing spruce are to the house but there are 3 or 4 which would reach. Gonzalo a few weeks ago had toppled the trees from north to south, this storm was west to east. The house is to the north east.
Not overly confident the now dangerous situation will be cleared in the near future. Situation where we have to grit our teeth and not express our thoughts openly.
The storm has brought with it an extraordinary spell of warm air. The bees have been very active today for the first time in weeks and seem to enjoy the chance to stretch their wings despite the challenging turbulence.
We had +15°C. In the skiing town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, just an hour from here, it was +19°C. However it also means flood warnings as our snow disappeared overnight. Tonight we might get sleet and snow and the mercury due to plunge again with wind chill keeping the felt temperature tomorrow below freezing!
No wonder some suffering colds and flus and turning off comments - Get well soon Nigel! Not much you can do than hit the honey, lemon and whisky.
Angie hit the sauna this evening, I passed but did enjoy sitting outside with a cup of coffee at 7:00pm in a sheltered spot soaking up the balmy evening temperature. Warmer than it often is in July!
