A dog to really love.

He was tied up to a lamp-post while his owner popped into a local shop.   He was returning as I took this photo.

But it made me think of the stories our neighbours had told us of how their two dogs (a black lab and a golden retriever) had  both been stolen though they had got them back - but paid a high ransom for them.

It also made me think of how when we had a black lab pup which we were .puppy walking for the Guide dogs, it went missing when off the lead and we were walking on the local moors.   Some dog thieves use ultrasonic whistles to attract dogs and this is very effective.   I was lucky and other dog walkers helped me find our dog.   But good looking, well behaved, pedigree dogs are a target and owners need to be alert to the danger.
