Tired of waiting for the trams?

There are two defunct signs here: not only the very old one saying St Cuthbert's (whatever that was) but also the ironmongery - which has gone out of business at some point during the tram works on Leith Walk.

Looking at the number of places that seem to have shut down, you can't help feeling there's some truth to this sign.
