What a lovely day:-

To Stage a Comeback

I was looking at the price of vegetable seeds in an on line catalogue and got quite a shock.

It was a severe encouragement to start to prepare for the Spring.

So here you see some of last years onion seed heads.  They were removed from the plants after they had been well pollinated last autumn and left to dry in the boiler cupboard for the last four months.

Now they are bone dry and fall to dust.  They are ready to be processed by rubbing them over a sieve.   The little black seeds are released and are retained whilst the dust falls through.

Well that is the theory but it does require more work than might be expected!
