Striking silhouette

This tree caught my eye as we were returning from our short walk at Cannon Hall after lunch.  My brother thought it was a tree that they'd discovered fairly recently and then propagated on.  Having searched through my `tree book' it does indeed look like a Dawn Redwood.  I'll need to keep an eye on it as it acquires leaves (or whatever it is that deciduous conifers acquire in the summer).

Mum is now back in her own home and we have the house to ourselves again.  We've not had the energy to do very much this afternoon.  We've even watched an ancient `Morse' on the tv - although I remembered seeing it before I still couldn't remember `who done it'.
