The Remembering Tree
We have had a lovely weekend away in Stratford upon Avon - all of 10 miles from home. We stayed with our friends who live there, and were joined by our friends from Cardiff. This morning we walked into town and came across this tree in the Bancroft gardens. It's a charity initiative to raise money for good causes in Africa. A large number of knitted and crocheted squares are produced (over half are made in South Africa), and then the tree is 'yarn bombed' overnight. This is all done in remembrance of loved ones of people taking part, who are commemorated on a plaque on the tree. After being on display for 6 weeks, it's dismantled and turned into blankets to be sent to Africa.
It's a shame it was a bit dreary this morning, as this photo doesn't really do it justice.
