Tomorrow's To do list

reading that is, not smoking

Had a massive browsathon ( less painful than a marathon) in Salts Mill today looking at books and this one stood out . The aspirational glamour on the cover was a contrast to the reviews on the back which included phrases such as " stark realism " ( usually meaning violence or aggression or some degree of psycopathy ) and " strident passion "
( usually meaning gratuituous sex ) . Luckily it didn't say " a must read " ( anything telling me it is a must read means I never will. I find all that a bit Emperor's New Clothes and therefore won't ever read it. I do exactly the opposite to what the critics/experts tell me to do .. this may explain away my tassled leather jacket and Def Leppard collection in the late 80s ) . It seems a fascinating read , a book of short stories, all linked to smoking and dramas. I am not a smoker and don't think it's glamorous but I just found it a very striking book and in the spirit of really trying hard not to just blip clouds anymore I went with something different.

I am going back to buy it next week, I was about to get it today and then realised that I have a pile of unread books here . As I am always telling my girls to read what they have first, before buying anything new, then I guess I should follow suit. (Mind you I always tell my girls to not drop their dinner down their clothes and not to leave the house with their knickers stuck in their skirts and then forget to apply that rule to myself )

So.... tommorow's plan whilst the girls are at their Dad's is to have a big fat lie in and read read read the books that I do have.

If anyone would like to come round and make me cups of coffee and peel me grapes whilst I do so, in return for some witty banter and a promise not to play Def Leppard , then the door's on the latch ...

Much much much better than Def Leppard

Happy Friday folks and a big big thanks to Wendy and Jeanne for the long long coffee chatathon earlier on today. We are the experts on The Olympics and photography now aren't we!!
