Jason II
A DH80A Puss Moth - produced by De Havilland Aircraft Company - a high wing monoplane designed in 1929 and produce until 1933.
My interest in this little aircraft stems from the fact that Amy Johnson flew Jason II to Tokyo and back in 1931, with co-pilot Jack Humphreys, in record time.
In 1930 Amy Johnson became the first woman pilot to fly solo from England to Australia. Amy left Croydon on 5 May 1930 and landed in Darwin, Northern Territory, on 24 May after flying 11,000 miles (18,000 km) in an open cockpit Gypsy Moth called Jason.
Jason II must have felt like luxury by comparison, especially over Siberia!
