Canal Hardware

I have photographed this item a few times but not used it as other shots had taken pride of place. I imagine this iron work was used in conjunction with a rope, to control a barge whilst negotiating passage under the bridge. The device is mounted in the wall of the bridge and is secured with  lead plugging.
