Spoor of the Bookworm

By Bookworm1962

So, after my minor slip yesterday involving fingers poked into semi awake eyes held together with stitches and hope, I made my weary way up to the hospital yet again to be monitored. The hospital was even more mobbed than usual, double parking in the disabled parking area, grid locked queues around every car park entry. Finally squeezed into a space about as far away from the eye hospital as it's possible to be and still be on hospital grounds. Took me ages to lurch down the hill on my crutches and fight for a seat in the overflowing waiting room. It's always busy but today was crazy. When I was finally called it turned out to be good news, I hadn't done it any favours yesterday but everything seems to be stable at last, so no more appointments for three weeks when, all being well, they'll take out the half dozen stitches. I won't be sorry to see them go, they're not painful exactly but I'm aware of them and they're causing distortion in my vision. Once that's achieved we have to schedule the surgery on my other eye...this one they're going to do under general anaesthetic.
Parking today was "only" a fiver...oh joy...a lot less than some of the days lately. Whinging aside it mounts up when you're going in every day/couple of days and in my reduced circumstances it's making a big hole. If I was still receiving benefits of course I could claim the fees back but in my current unsupported state these kinds of concessions are also stripped away adding insult to injury.
Must stop whinging, good news is good news.
