The Evening Gathering

Another beautiful day and Tarawera Times and 2 of her granddaughters and I swam out around the island in the water which seems warmer each day. The locals gather for a chat , drink and nibbles before dinner and the young ones enjoy each other's company playing volley ball, riding bikes, playing cricket and as always messing about in , over and around the creek.
A calm and balmy evening in this beautiful place and tonight we dined on the deck on the crayfish caught by my son-in-law sauteed lightly in butter with spring onions, garlic and lemon juice, red potatoes grown by Tarawera Times' husband Ian doused in butter and fresh parsley, runner beans grown by Tarawera Times…sweet and tender! My father would have said we are living like kings : ))
