Red admiral Butterfly

I went to my favourite nursery today and as I was looking around the flowers indoors, I spotted this red admiral. It wouldn't open it's wings for me and when I startled it, it flew off up to the beams high up where I assume it was roosting (if that is what butterflies do in winter).
