Winter coat on.
This black headed gull is in its winter plumage with just a white spot behind its eye. We used to think that gulls came inland when the weather was rough at sea but, living in the middle of the country, I doubt if this or its hundreds of relatives living nearby have ever seen the sea! We needed Wellies to reach the hide at the feeding station this morning so we had to go in search of another location. However, these fellows are so numerous everywhere it wasn't difficult! Home just in time to rescue the washing before it rained again.
Thank you all for your kind comments on yesterday's roses
