GUITAR BACKS...

These are matched pairs of Indonesian rosewood guitar backs.

When I was down that way in the Merchant Navy they floated these enormous logs out to the ship & we hauled them into the hold using winches, derricks & steel slings + an awful lot of powerful invective! They were a bugger to secure because if they shifted about in a high sea - trouble was inevitable.

These days they're sawn to thickness in situ & shipped via the internet.

So it goes...
