French Horn
I always new I wanted to play in an orchestra, but didn't have any strong feeling towards any one instrument.
I did want to play the flute at one point. I was very impressed with James Galway, but boy am I glad I didn't pursue that one. Waaaaay too many notes to play, on waaaaaay too many ledger lines.
So almost by accident I ended up playing the horn which I love and and constantly aspire to master. I'm lucky to be surrounded by some really really good musicians at work who are a constant source of inspiration.
Having said all that, I have pretty much zero interest in the horn other than playing it. Many players know all about which mouth piece they're using and how the help a player with certain things.
Me; no idea. I've still got my basic student mouth piece I was told to buy when I first went to college.
Others will listen to lots of other players and lots of horn concertos and music. Boring!!
I just wanna play.
However I do think it's rather a lovely thing to look at too, and makes for a useful eBlip on a Saturday when I'm waiting to go into work to start recording...
