School Chaplaincies

Lovely session with Gill looking at a scoping exercise on School Chaplaincies, gathering good practice & developing standards, tool kits & perhaps authorisation. Gill, amongst a bewildering list of responsibilities, is vicar to Holy Innocents, High Beach, a beautiful setting for a church in Epping Forest. Poet John Clare, when attending the local asylum, wrote,

How beautiful this hill of fern swells on
So beautiful the Chapel peeps between
The hornbeams, with its simple bell;  alone
I wander here, hid in a palace green.

I love to see the Beech Hill mounting high
The brook without a bridge and nearly dry ..
There’s Bucket’s Hill, a place of furze and clouds,
which evening in a golden blaze enshrouds.
