123 RABBIT
Those of a certain age may remember that before we all had mobile phones, a select few subscribed to services whereby you could make a call from a dedicated handset as long as you were within 100 metres of a phonepoint supplied by the service you subscribed to. One of these was Rabbit. There were only 2000 points throughout the country even during the year and a half (1992-1993) the service existed and there are a few Rabbit signs still surviving. Evolving technology made it all obsolete very quickly. I remember it well because one of the magazines I worked for at the time was a trade magazine for the telecoms industry, all cutting edge at the time and mind-numbingly boring.
(Look at the ****** thumbnail!! It makes my title meaningless. Grrrr.)
