Fallen trees

There are LOTS of fallen trees and damage in the forest surrounding the campus that was caused by the hurricane last weekend. This big fallen tree has pulled a root ball that is standing about 8-9m high. It is difficult to get any idea of scale in this shot, but it is impressive up close. I'm amazed that it has such a shallow root....
