LILY

Morning trip to Morrisons with my friend Jan.  Weather has been cold and windy with squally rain showers so I have stayed indoors for the rest of the day.  Neil had a day off and apart from going into the street to carry my bags of shopping indoors he hasn't left the house.  He has watched snooker on TV, watched cricket on his laptop and has played a fantasy football game. ( And eaten a large amount of chocolate and crisps.)   A nice restful day off as he's still recovering from his bad cold.

This afternoon Tino and Lily were chasing each other around all over the house as usual.  It starts with Tino chasing Lily and she jumps up somewhere high. Then she chases Tino and so it goes on until they are worn out..  I was on the landing putting stuff into the laundry basket when they both came dashing upstairs.  Tino jumped on the bannister rail near me.  Lily was right behind him.  They had a tussle.  Tino seemed to lose his footing but he sorted himself out and jumped on to the newel cap ( I think that's what its called - the flat bit of wood on the top of the bannister post ).  The next bit seemed to happen in slow motion.  I sensed that Lily was falling and I could see her out of the corner of my eye disappearing off the bannister down the drop into the hall.  A big crash followed and I dashed down the stairs,  Lily was nowhere to be seen - I was relieved she wasn't in a crumpled heap.  However  as she fell she had knocked down a lovely print which was on the wall.  The print was OK and luckily  it was covered with perspex and not glass.  I hate to think of what could have happened if it had been glass.  The frame was smashed to bits but I can replace that.

Lily appeared looking none the worse for her accident.  I decided to play with her to check that she was moving OK so I threw a little ball up the stairs and she chased it.  All her limbs seemed to be working perfectly. In fact she was very lively considering her fall.  I took this shot  when the game was finished.  She is looking a bit sad as she still wants to play.
