Drying
This little shag (kawaupaka) was perched on a rock by the edge of the water. Obviously it had been hunting for breakfast, and needed to dry its wings. I was able to get close and with the telephoto lens got this.
Before I went out for a run along the beaches from Algies to Snells, I had seen a fantail (piwakawaka) in the pohutukawa beyond our deck. I managed a number of focussed photos, but not one with the fan fully spread.
C arrived just before midday to spend the afternoon with us before taking her boys back to Auckland where certain things are necessary to be done. Mr H starts Intermediate School this year, and so needs a uniform, and tonight is when he can get it.
A delightful lunch organised by S. Mr H and Miss 9 made their own filled rolls and their combinations sounded very tasty. After a bit of pause, Tsuken and I took the children down the cliff path to the beach. Once more we had it to ourselves Great fun was had leaping off the "jumping rocks"; and with their boogie boards.
Now, a quiet evening with pizza and wine beckons.
