The most useful course...

I seem to have spent a lifetime on courses - and I don't mean golf.   But by far the most useful....... way beyond vocational training or anything else for that matter...... was one I took 47 years ago.

In those days, when you were in sixth year at school, the final exams were at Easter time and then you sat around with little to do until the summer.    The Commercial Department in my school decided to offer a course in touch typing.    So 20 periods a week for six weeks I learned to touch type.    (Add to that 20 periods of Spanish that I almost immediately forgot afterwards.)

And without doubt it stood me in better stead than any other one single piece of learning experience in my life.
