Highway

This is a very important road. To the left of this shot you'll see the crest of a dip. The road drops down to a hollow which floods. Beyond that you'll see the road has risen again as it continues into the next village where the off-licence and the Indian take-away is to be found. That's what makes it an important road in my book.

Behind me in this shot it narrows as it runs between high hedges which protect the orchards. Those of us who know the road know where the passing places are but it's not uncommon to round a bend and see two cars facing each other, bumper to bumper, as the drivers disagree about who should reverse to let the other one through. Less often an HGV will try to get through and that usually means a lot of reversing and horns blaring and coarse language.
