Quintin Hogg Memorial
This is a memorial dedicated to Quintin Hogg, located in Portland Place in London. Hogg was a 19th century philanthropist committed to providing educational, sporting and social opportunities for young people from poor backgrounds. In 1882 he took over the Polytechnic Institution in Regent Street and offered evening classes in technical and commercial subjects. The name was later changed to Regent Street Polytechnic, then in 1972 to the Polytechnic of Central London and finally, in 1992, the University of Westminster.
The University still occupies the same building at 309 Regent Street, which is where I'm currently based.
I'm sure I remember seeing somewhere that this memorial used to be located in Regent Street, close to the university building. Can anyone shed any light on that?
