World's Smartest Dog

I swear that English is Boone's first language.
He is responsive to an incredible and ever expanding number of words (even when we spell them).
The neighbor's dog was small enough to fit through a gap in the fence recently and he started to show up in our yard. I saw him outside once and said something like..."Boone, your little buddy came over to visit."
Boone looked at what I was looking at and enthusiastically went out to play.
I said it...once.
Just once.
If I say the word "buddy" now in any context, Boone practically kills himself getting through the dog door to visit that little dog.
And the neighbor has fixed the fence so I feel terrible.
I am purging the word from my vocabulary. :)
