Allium

Its been a much better day and we even managed to get a bit of gardening done this afternoon. When we were up in Glasgow last weekend we brought back some bedding plants so it was time to get them in the ground. There is always a risk of frost before the end of May, but last year we found that the only garden centre in Kintyre had run out of bedding plants by the beginning of June. It seems to be a case of plant early and risk a frost or wait and possibly miss out on getting the plants you want. Anyway, being on the coast means we don't usually get very hard frosts. Lets hope this year is not the exception!

Today's blip is courtesy of my sister The Way I See It as this Allium is one of a number of bulbs she gave us last October when she came to visit. Its great when you get the pleasure of both planting a present and then seeing it flower 6 months later! I really love the colourful pom-pom heads which are very distinctive and unlike any other flowers in the garden at this time of year.

If you go LARGE you can also see some wee strands of a spider's web!
