Who cares about the rain?
We have just come back from the wettest and riskiest walk ever. The dogs and I trudged out across the flooded fields, leaving husband to recuperate on the settee. The fields were absolutely sodden and my wellington boots kept sinking in the mud. When we reached the part where the river was at its most ferocious my boots got stuck in the mud. I couldn't move right or left, forward or backwards. I started tottering. I have never had great balance so I thought a tumble was a certainty. My real concern, was my camera which was hanging around my neck unprotected. The dogs looked on in delight. This, they thought was a new game. My screams and flailing resulted in excited barking and jumping which, of course, made the situation worse. Anyway, everyone who knows me will say I make a tale out of nothing - so of course, I did manage to crawl my way out.
As you can see from the image, the boys were not at all concerned that their owner had had a near death experience - oh ok - had run the risk of falling in the mud and maybe damaging her camera. Hopefully in a real crisis they will be there for me!
