Stephen Lang

This picture was taken at Remembrance Day in Gettysburg a few years back.  Remembrance Day is the largest Civil War parade in the world, and Cooper’s goes down every year to march in it.  Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address   which was in November of 1863.  It is a chance for all reenactors to pull out their best dress uniforms and somewhat show off.  There are many things to do on Remembrance Day and it often attracts the attention of many famous people.  For example, one year a few of the members of the unit spotted Steven Spielburg attending the reading of The Gettysburg Address.  One of our sergeants actually talked to him without even noticing.  However, I am with a different person in this picture.  This is a picture of Stephen Lang, an actor that not really many people know about.  However, every good reenactor knows exactly who he is.  In the movie “Gettysburg”, Lang portrayed General George Pickett, who was seen by others as being somewhat insane.  Then, in the movie “Gods and Generals”, he played the main character, “Stonewall” Jackson.  He brought the characters to life and is seen as almost a hero in the reenacting community.  Lang played in other major motion pictures too.  He was the commander in “Avatar”, the voice of “Chip Hazard” in “Small Soldiers”, and he also had a part in “Tombstone”.
