Formby Parish Church

This church was built in 1746 to replace the original church which was located on the edge of the sand hills and was destroyed in a severe storm in 1739. The exact location of the original church is not known as wind blown sand inundated the area. At the time this area was sparsely populated and people survived  by farming and fishing, however the village was mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
