On The Level
We went to The Chateau Mon Desir last night. It's reputedly the best place on the island for fine dining. It's part of the hotel, but you pay a supplement. The Mauritian Prime Minister dines there.
The meal last night was superb. Maybe the finest food I have eaten.
However, an older couple brought their one year oldish baby who grizzled and crawled around the floor. It was comical, but the waiter fell backwards over the baby. The baby cried; the parents laughed. The pianist tried to play louder. After several minutes, the baby was back on the floor, crawling. We couldn't believe their inconsiderate patenting.
Today I complained. It turned out that a Scottish couple had the same problem, from the same couple, a few nights ago. It is just not the sort of place to take children, let alone a young baby. When will parents realise there are some things you should not do with children - your life changes until they grow up.
Anyway, the restaurant manager was horrified to hear of the goings on. We will have a free dining experience next Wednesday. I did not want to complain, but when you pay good money you want value.
Well, there it is - on the level - I'm a grumpy man!
The blip photo is from the hotel beach this morning. I hope you like it.
