Impulse buying

Met with a friend today who is a far more experienced and better photographer than I am. The same person who introduced me to blip.
I had no idea that tripods cost so much or that there was such a variety.
Since I have to use my (daughter's) proper camera next week to take some pictures at the BETT exhibition in London, I thought I'd better buy a tripod.
In true male style, I did the research after the purchase. It seems this one is ok. We will see.
Awaiting everyone telling me I have wasted £25.
