If we'd been able to park in our usual location close to the Yoga studio, I would have missed a bliportunity. We watched workers preparing to restore the intertidal habitat in Padden Creek estuary. I'd read about it in the Bellingham Herald, but hadn't remembered when it was scheduled to begin: Small estuaries, including the Padden Creek estuary, have become increasingly important as the amount of intertidal habitat in Bellingham Bay has shrunk, city officials have said, noting that about 282 acres of aquatic land have been lost in the inner part of the bay.

Work will continue through the night to take advantage of a low tide.
