On Thin Ice
The pond is partially covered with ice but there has been some melting and refreezing. I observed these cracks in the ice that are quite large and look like tree branches. I had to stand on the bench in the gazebo to to get a decent shot and must have looked quite odd. This is but a small section of the cracks, but seemed to show them off the best.
I have always disliked winter, but since joining blip I have gained a new appreciation for the soft light and the magic of ice and snow. I love to bundle up and take long walks in the cold crisp air and really hate it when the weather prevents me from doing so. It is wonderful to discover new pleasures.
Speaking of pleasure, we attended a lovely concert with solo violinist Gil Shaham this evening. The performance was nearly 3 hours with 2 intermissions. He played all of Bach’s Violin Sonatas and Partitas from memory. It was an incredible performance.
