Raddled

I was amused to see this rather elderly male Monarch resting in the garden today.  The females fly past quite regularly, and no doubt he's hanging around with an eye to the main chance.

Seeing that he's definitely past his best, I'm not sure he can attract a female in his condition.

Still you gotta to be in it to win it, as they say.

We know it's a male because of the two little lumps on the hind wing (at the bottom close to the body), and the veins are thinner.
