Meg's miles
Today, again, I ran in memory of Meg Cross Menzies. Meg was an American runner, killed by a drunk driver when out for her early morning run on 13 January 2014.
I ran for her last year too, because she could have been any one of us. I said last year that I was also running because there will come a day when I can no longer run.
Thankfully, again, today was not that day. My hypermobility and its associated ankle, back and joint problems have meant that I haven't been able to run much recently. My most recent sprain two days ago meant I probably shouldn't have run today. But I strapped up my ankle and I went out anyway.
Sometimes you have to not listen to reason - because while my body might be somewhat broken, my mind and spirit are certainly not. I may have run a tenth of the distance I did last year, but I ran today because I am still able to. I ran for Meg and I ran for everyone who no longer can.
